The Many Health Benefits of Breakfast| Eating breakfast should be an important event in your life every morning. But make sure you choose the food that is of a healthy nature. There are many health benefits for eating breakfast every morning. It is even more beneficial for children of all ages. Here is what we know about this claim. Your mother, most likely believed breakfast to be the most important meal of the day. It has been proven that a healthy breakfast is linked to many health benefits.

Studies have shown that breakfast provides these valuable health benefits:* A diet that is high in nutrients, vitamins and minerals*Improved concentration and performance in school and even at work. * More strength and endurance to engage in physical activity* Lower cholesterol levelsKnowing all of this I was greatly disturbed about a recent article I read in a health newsletter I subscribe to. It was about a ridiculous cereal claim that had nothing to do with a healthy breakfast meal. Kellogg’s announced that their cereal “Cocoa Krispies” now helps support your child’s immunity. Why is this claim so ridiculous and very disturbing to me? Because no matter how you look at it, this product falls into the class of “sugary foods” and “sugary foods” are not good for children or adults. Not only that, there is no way that any cereal of this type is an immunity booster. How is it that a company like Kellogg’s can make such a claim when sugar is one of the mostly damaging of all foods to your body? Constant use of sugar causes many major diseases, cancer in particular is one of them.

But the list also includes many more illnesses and diseases than you might not believe are effected. Do you realize that in America it’s illegal to claim that vitamin D boost immunity function (even though there is many facts to support this)? There have been doctors and clinics that express the merits of these kinds of natural remedies and have been shut down and threatened with arrests. Why doesn’t the FDA send threatening letters to the CEO of Kellogg’s threatening them with arrest and prosecution and confiscating their inventory of cereals for “misleading labeling”?

This is what they have done when a nutritional company has claimed what their vitamin will do to help someone get well. Usually there is proof to support such a claim. Why doesn’t the FDA make Kellogg’s supply the same kind of truth? Think about this for a minute. When you go to your favorite grocery store what grocery store shelves usually have some of the largest inventory? I think you will find the answer to that question to be without a doubt, “cereals. ” There must be some tremendous profits made by cereal companies and others who sell the product, wouldn’t you believe?

As a society we better start getting serious about how to live healthy and how to stay healthy. In particular we should have some serious medical concerns about what our children are eating and drinking. I’m appalled with the food commercials I see on TV or in the press especially directed to kids. The frosted pop tart for breakfast commercials are among the most disgusting of all ads I see. Not only is this product full of sugar but it also offers no nutritional value whatever.

Kids almost certainly can get a real “sugar high” from it, which will eventually deplete their energy before they ever get to school. Now we also know that adults also are guilty of not eating a healthy breakfast. In fact I have talked to many adults who don’t eat any breakfast at all. However some of them have admitted stopping at a fast food restaurant for a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. For years now the FDA has betrayed the American population by allowing ridiculous claims on packages of processed food that has been chemically treated or enhanced with harmful ingredients.

Meanwhile foods like broccoli, blueberries, citrus foods and a host of other fruits and vegetables cannot make any health claims whatsoever. How many times do you read in the press or hear on TV the benefits of eating healthy foods such as these? You know the answer is, “rarely”. When are we going to finally voice our opinion about how terrible the food industry is misguiding us? Because the pace of the world is running at such a high level I don’t believe most people stop long enough to realize what a serious problem this is.

Maybe we also need “tea parties” to start dealing with this “food issue” just like they have done to denounce certain government policies. The problem, so far, is that the awareness of this problem hasn’t been enough of a great concern to many people or it hasn’t been publicized that much on tv or the regular media yet. Guess what it might take for the awareness on this issue to finally get people’s attention? Here’s is what I think it will take, “more will be people dying of all kinds of diseases”. However here is my concern.

Who is going to educate those people about how to live healthy and how to stay healthy? I can tell you right now that it won’t be the government, Big Pharma or the medical community. This is the “shocking facts” whether you want to believe it or not. Now I have made this statement many times because I’m convinced it’s true. You don’t think so? Lets look at it this way. If people learned how to get healthy and fit how would this impact these three organizations and/or individuals? You can make your own judgement about how you feel about it.

I have already decided what I believe. Well here we are into months of discussion and numerous battles between the politicians to try and solve our healthcare problem. I can now tell you this. Whatever is finally decided about a healthcare plan it will never solve our “healthcare crisis”The reason it won’t is because we will only be passing a “sickness plan” and not a “wellness plan”. We need a prevention plan and a wellness plan to solve our national health crisis. The only way that will ever happen by educating people and teach them how to be nutrition smart.

People need to know not only about what is “healthy food” but also know what are “healthy nutrients” too. If they are truthfully concerned about having a healthy body they need to adopt a daily wellness management program for themselves. So here is a good way to get started every day. First make sure you eat a healthy breakfast meal. Then continue to make sure that all your meals are healthy at least most of the time. Add daily exercises, to your daily regimen, find ways to manage stress, make sure you have a lean body weight and finally you will be on your way to living a healthy lifestyle. |
